WANA Expands Reforestation Mission with Gaia Nature Conservation in Xuan Lien Forest

Following our successful planting of 450 trees at Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, WANA is continuing its partnership with Gaia Nature Conservation by planting an additional 2,000 trees to help restore Xuan Lien Forest in Thanh Hoa Province.

The Current Challenges in Xuan Lien Forest, Thanh Hoa

Located in Thanh Hoa province, the Xuan Lien Nature Reserve is a vital headwater forest. It plays an essential role in regulating water resources and safeguarding the lives of millions in the province and surrounding areas. The name “Xuan Lien” evokes the image of a vibrant, lush landscape, rich in biodiversity and life.

Unfortunately, over 300 hectares of forest in the reserve have been severely degraded and are in urgent need of rehabilitation. In the past, this land was used for slash-and-burn farming by local communities before being returned to the reserve for restoration. While the Xuan Lien Museum showcases a wide range of rare specimens, the surrounding forest remains hauntingly quiet, with little wildlife activity.

WANA’s Ongoing Efforts to Revive Xuan Lien Forest

WANA is a prominent beverage manufacturer and exporter. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and contributing positively to Vietnam’s ecosystems. Our actions support the Vietnamese government’s vision of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. We minimize waste, reduce chemical usage, and promote forest restoration.

In 2023, WANA planted 450 rare tree species at the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve. These trees help enrich biodiversity and offer food and shelter to native wildlife, including squirrels, civets, and monkeys.

In 2024, we are scaling up our efforts by planting 2,000 trees in this forest. This initiative reaffirms our deep commitment to environmental responsibility. Xuan Lien’s dedicated forest rangers and the local community will carefully plant, maintain, and monitor the trees.

A Message from WANA’s CEO

Mike Nguyen, CEO of WANA Beverage, shared:

“At WANA, we believe sustainability and environmental care must go hand in hand with responsible business. Our mission to help restore Xuan Lien Forest is a reflection of our commitment to both our customers and future generations. We’re proud to collaborate with Gaia Nature Conservation in this meaningful effort, and we’re excited to watch these 2,000 trees flourish and strengthen Vietnam’s natural ecosystems.”

We hope these trees will take root and thrive. In the next 5, 10, or 15 years, they will grow strong and tall, helping to regenerate Xuan Lien Forest and supporting a greener, more sustainable Vietnam.
